cultural, professional, and educational horizons.
Rites of Passage
The Rites of Passage program teaches values, leadership skills and cultural history for middle school boys and girls. We accentuate the positive aspects of growing up and instill within each child the understanding of self and, that they are loved, respected and valued by their community. We help each child to lead positive, productive and responsible lives and experience a transition to a higher level of social development. Participants follow a principle-based curriculum and the program is complimented by field trips to cultural and educational institutions that have like-minded objectives and purposes.
Creative Arts & Entrepreneurial
program includes drawing, painting, poetry, sewing and crocheting and soap/shampoo making. The soaps and shampoos made by the students are made from all natural products and are for sale. For more information on the Entrepreneurial Program, please contact Sister Fajr (646) 670-7949.
Global Exposure
program provides educational, cultural and historical exposure to 8th grade students to the world abroad. Students travel abroad to become immersed in the culture, language and gain valuable international experience and learn a lot about ones self. Participants have challenging yet rewarding experience learning what it is like being a member of a community in another country.
Our students are Ambassadors to the world. Visiting the various countries gives them an opportunity to portray a positive image of African Americans not often shown in today’s media. The Global Exposure Program has taken us to such places as France, Mexico, Ghana, China, South Africa, Spain/Morocco, Egypt and Kenya (2010).
