For eighth-graders at the Learning Tree Cultural Preparatory School, it was a trip of a lifetime.
As part of the school's annual senior trip tradition, students traveled to Kenya last month to trace President Obama's roots.
"President Obama's whole experience and image is so positive for our young people that it was like, "Why not Kenya?'" said Principal Lois Gregory.
Students start fund-raising for these trips, dubbed the Global Exposure Program, while in the seventh grade. Past senior trips have included jaunts to Gambia in West Africa, France, Spain and Egypt.
